EMUG Meeting
2nd meeting of the ENDLESS Metal User Group (EMUG)
September 25, 2026

The second meeting of the ENDLESS Metal User Group (EMUG) was held online on September 25, 2026. The agenda is outlined below. Following technical updates on tool developments since 2024 provided by C. Degrigny, Amalia Hammond demonstrated a contribution to the MiCorr database using an object from the Hollandia collection. This was followed by a presentation from C. Degrigny on the application of Discovery Mat to the analysis of metal horological objects.
Subsequently, Julie Schröter described the treatment—using Pleco—of a chalice veil from the same collection as the coronation mantle of Charles X, which had been presented at the first EMUG meeting. This presentation was complemented by insights from Anna Andreeva regarding the appropriate use of Pleco on metal threads. The final presentation focused on a new application of Pleco aimed at the localised stabilisation of active corrosion on copper-based alloys. This process has since been implemented to treat copper-alloy objects from the collection of the Musée cantonal d’archéologie et d’histoire in Lausanne (Switzerland).
The presentations were very well received. The meeting is fairly informal. Interested participants should contact Christian.degrigny@he-arc.ch.
